Before I go back in time and list a few events I've been to, I thought I would start with where I'm going!

Wheeling, WV is about 3 1/2-4 hours from my hometown. So this is my first big trip on my own.  Bought the event ticket, rented the car and booked the hotel!  All set!

As much as I wanted to hit the Friday night show and see Robert Cray, it just didn't work into the "I have to be at work" schedule. Soooooo, Sunday it is!

Trampled Under Foot at 7:00 and Kenny Wayne Shepherd at 8:30!  I saw Trampled Under Foot in June at the Western Maryland Blues Fest and they blew the crowd away.  Based out of Kansas City--which just so happens to be where my son and beautiful daughter-in-law are living, I had to pass the news on to them to check this band out.  Two more fans recruited!

I have not seen Kenny Wayne Shepherd before, so I am really looking forward to that show.

Before going to a Blues Fest, I usually do some homework on the artists that are new to me.  Their website, myspace and Amazon, all give me a chance to check out their style and sound.  I'd have to say Sean Carney is the other artist I'm looking forward to.

For Blues Fest and Blues Music information--check out these two sites.
Blues Festival Guide
Blues Blast Magazine

You'll get all the information on where the nearest Blues Fest is and the Blues Blast Magazine has great articles on artists and reviews of new music on the scene.  I just found  The Cash Box Kings--love their soulful sound!

Intro

This little spot on the web is about my love of the Blues.  I'm not an expert nor have I been listening to the blues all my life.  I'm starting a new journey in life at the amazing age of 49 that is called...

IT'S ALL ABOUT ME!

For the past 25 years it's been about raising kids, helping parents and working.  Now the kids have moved out, gotten married and it's time for ME!

In 2002 a friend talked me in to attending the Western Maryland Blues Fest in Hagerstown, MD.  I haven't missed a year since.  What started out as just a fun night out with friends and some live music, has grown into a deep love of that style of music.

About 5-6 years ago, I really started to pay attention to the artists and who I liked and why I liked them.  My son also started going along to the annual Blues Fest and it has become something we share and enjoy together.

The main reason for this little blog is to start a journal of my travels to see some of the best Blues Music out there. Each event I've attended, I've found a band/singer that I have never heard of but fell in love with!  Including...Janiva Magness, Hamilton Loomis, Kelley Bell Band, Trampled Under Foot, Matt Schofield and so many more.  I'll post where I've been and hopefully where I'm going.

If you are looking for deep expertise of the music--move on.  I just like what I like and want to share that with friends and family.
